As someone who has been described as an intellectual by a fellow blogger I have to state that I am totally immune to his charms (NOT)

He is a great actor and seems to have triumphed over his addictions.

Yes, you're right, I remember the photos of him in jail and when he couldn't get insurance to appear in films, those were dark times.
His new wife seems to have helped him with his recovery so we should be grateful to her too.

Aileen, I do urge you to watch Chaplin-he was nominated for an Oscar (and robbed in my opinion)but he is spell binding in it.
Robert Redford? Ah, the ultimate in pretty boys. But I wonder whether he can really laugh at himself? A vital component of attraction methinks that is missing

You are right about Redford, he does take himself seriously but I think he takes everything seriously. I agree about the need for humour, I think George Clooney has got that. Do you remember Robert Donat? he was fun....

I love watching old films and remember him in The 39 Steps and the Inn of 6th Happiness. The actors then had a certain something;Clark Gable,Ronald Colman,Cary Grant,Errol Flynn. They had a lightness of touch which is irrestible.
Mind you , they were helped out by some terrific actresses,William Powell and Myrna Loy are a joy in The Thin Man

I'm only commenting to give you another reason to come and look at the rather yummy pic you posted of him. Would like to say intelligent comments about his acting, overcoming his personal problems, etc but my mind has been turned to mush by that photo!

You are a true friend and I am forever indebted. My computer sort of freezes as I try to scroll past his picture. Must be a technical blip

Enjoy your busy Goth starter week
